In short
- Your camera feed never leaves your phone.
- The app has no accounts, ads, analytics or crash reporting.
- This site only collects your email if you join the beta, or your details if you're a business that contacts us.
- We never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
Who we are
RIFT is made by a small team in Bengaluru, India ("we"). We decide how your personal data is used, which makes us the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This policy covers this website and the RIFT app for Android.
What we collect and why
If you join the beta
- Your email address, to send you the download link and beta updates, and to ask how RIFT works for you. It's kept in our list of beta players.
- Your confirmation that you're 18 or older and agree to our terms.
Kept until you leave the beta or ask us to delete it. We'll only send other news if you agree to it separately.
If you write to us
- Your name, email address, your message and anything you attach, to reply and fix what you report.
Kept for up to one year after the conversation ends.
If you're a business
- What you enter in the pilot form: your name, venue, city, email, phone number and message, plus your venue address if we work together. We use them to discuss a pilot, set RIFT up and run our agreement.
Kept while we work together, then as long as tax and accounting law requires.
When you visit the site
- Technical data our web host records: IP address, browser, pages visited and when, to keep the site running and secure and to stop spam through our forms.
Kept for up to one year, as Indian law requires.
What the app does on your phone
None of this is sent to us.
- Camera. RIFT finds the points of your body in each frame, then discards the frame. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
- Motion sensors. A controller phone sends its motion to your main phone over your own Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, never the internet.
- Accessibility. RIFT uses it to see which app is open and to tap and swipe in games it supports. If you place a game's controls yourself, it takes a screenshot of the game, which stays on your phone. It doesn't read the content of other apps. You can turn it off in Settings, Accessibility.
- Stored on your phone. Calibrations, game settings, paired phones and a performance log. Uninstalling RIFT deletes them.
The app only uses the internet to open Play Store pages and to reach your other phones on your network. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and who we've shared it with,
- correct or update it,
- delete it,
- stop using it. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us,
- let someone act for you if you die or can't act yourself.
Email hello@tryrift.fun from the address you signed up with. We reply within 30 days. For this policy in Hindi or Kannada, just ask.
Children
You must be 18 or older to join the beta or contact us. Under-18s can play only if a parent or guardian installs RIFT and supervises. If we learn we hold a child's data, we delete it.
Security
We protect your data with encrypted connections, limited access and trusted providers. If a breach affects you, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes
We'll post changes here and update the date. If a change matters, we'll email you first.
Contact and complaints
Our Grievance Officer handles questions, requests and complaints about your data:
